Although we’ve seen unseasonably mild temperatures this autumn, forecasters suggest that we’re in for a prolonged spell of very cold weather this winter. Whilst most of us enjoy the luxury of heat and shelter when the weather turns, there are many people in Oxfordshire that are forced to live on the streets. As the weather turns, the homeless of our community desperately need warm coats to help protect them through the harshest season of the year.
Last winter, you may remember we teamed with the students of Abingdon and Witney College to support their campaign to collect your unwanted coats to donate to OxHop – Oxfordshire Homeless Pathways charity. We were completely overwhelmed with your generosity. Our target was to collect 100 coats, but we smashed through this, and thanks to your kindness we collected an incredible 475 coats from our local customers! Due to the tremendous success of this campaign, we’ve decided to do it again.
We’re asking you again to dig deep into the depths of your wardrobe and donate any coats you no longer need. We couldn’t make it easier for you to donate. Simply bring your coats into your place of work and drop off at your designated collection point. We can then collect any donations when we deliver your office supplies, or when your pile of coats becomes too large to manage! Once collected, we store them at our warehouse until ready to take to OxHop’s headquarters at O’Hanlon House for distribution to those who are most in need. Men’s coats are most in demand, but we’re really grateful for any coat you’re able to spare.
You have until Friday 14th December to donate your coats, so please help us keep the homeless of Oxfordshire warm this winter. Donate today and help us achieve our target of donating 100 coats to Oxfordshire’s most in need.
Any help and support you can offer would be most appreciated. Please do support our local homeless this winter.
